Natural cosmetics VS organic: what is the difference

Certificate “Organic”.

Three years ago, Neilsen conducted a global study, according to which it turned out that more than 60% of consumers in our country are ready to overpay for eco-friendly brands. After that, only a lazy marketer did not mark “organic” on his products. On the one hand, a reverence towards ecology is an excellent trend, on the other hand, a way of manipulating and making money.

Most often, only names are hidden under beautiful names, and the compositions do not correspond to them at all. For a product to have the proud title of Organic, they must receive a certificate. And to do this is quite difficult. This is the case when it matters not only the composition, but also the origin of the ingredients. They must be grown on organic soil without fertilizers, which has passed the examination and received an expert opinion. All over the world sanctions have already been imposed for the use of the marking “organic” without reason. But in the post-Soviet space they continue to use this marketing ploy.

The standards of “Organic” are really very high. Raw materials of biodynamic facilities are necessarily marked with a special label. It should also be on the final product. And on the label must be printed code indicating the origin of raw materials.

After receiving the certificate, the manufacturer also has no right to relax. It must be visited by inspections that make samples, check documentation. The most popular prestigious certificates to date: ICEA, ECOCERT, Soil Association, NaTrue.

Natural cosmetic.

Natural and organic cosmetics actually have a lot in common: it consists of 95% ingredients of natural origin, is not tested on animals, does not contain fragrances and artificial colors, products of GMO origin, silicones, formaldehyde, sulfates, parabens.

But there is also a difference. In natural cosmetics it is allowed to use products of animal origin, plant ingredients should be at least 50% (in organic 95%), and the amount of ingredients from certified farms should be at least 5% (organic – 10%).

Any user immediately has a question: what is included in the remainder? Nothing criminal. Most often these are products of mineral origin and identical to natural ingredients.

Even if cosmetics have 90% natural ingredients, this does not guarantee its high quality. Natural can be so processed and have so many impurities that it does more harm than good. Be sure to read the reviews and be interested in the origin of the ingredients before you try something new.

What to choose?

Natural cosmetics is gaining more and more space in the beauty market. And this name can trump funds in which, in addition to natural raw materials, there are harmful components as well. Before buying, pay attention to the label. If the natural components are at the end of the list – leave such funds on the shelves in the store. There are too few of them!

Some products can be harvested in the wild, in clean ecological zones: they will be natural, but not organic. So, good products do not have to have an Organic certificate. For example, in the production process, we use organic raw materials with a certificate for each batch. But our brand still does not have an organic certificate for the final product .
